Your driver training begins with the first aid course. This compulsory 10-hour course allows you to acquire the basics of how to react in case of an accident, how to call for help and how to provide first aid while waiting for help to arrive. Any road user can one day be confronted with an emergency situation, for himself or for others: it is important to know how to react and to be able to provide emergency first aid.
The first aid course, also called Samaritans, aims at teaching you the right reflexes in case of an emergency, in case someone close to you is victim of an accident. This first aid course is not affiliated to the Samaritan movement but it provides you with all the necessary notions to pass your driving license in Geneva, just like the Samaritan movement. These notions will also be useful outside of driving: an incident can happen in any situation of daily life, and this knowledge will allow you to better react in the event of an incident.
This course is designed to teach you the key concepts of how to react in the event of an accident, how to help the victim and how to optimize the time until help arrives. At the end of the course, you will be able to provide first aid to a victim of an accident.
During these 10 hours of classes, you will learn:
This course is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical and will teach you the theory of emergency situations. The second part will allow you to put your knowledge into practice and to practice in real life situations. Practical demonstrations on mannequins will allow you to practice following the information assimilated during the theoretical training.
At the end of this training, you will take a test to verify your knowledge and to know if you have understood and assimilated the course content.
This course has a total duration of 10 hours, spread over two or four days depending on your preferences and availability. You must be at least 14 years old to participate in this course.
The attestation obtained is valid for 6 years and is part of the prerequisites to allow you to advance in your journey to obtain your driving license in Geneva. In case of loss of the attestation, an administrative fee of 30.00 will be asked for the establishment of a duplicate, which will be provided to you within 2 to 3 days.
